About Our Center
Our School
We are a center based child care facility, meaning our curriculum is set up to revolve around the different learning centers in each classroom. We believe children learn by doing. It may look like the children are idly playing when actually they are learning multiple things from our carefully planned classroom settings.
Toddler Programs
The Toddler Programs, which encourage cooperation and language development, are for children from fifteen months to 2.9 years old.
Play is encouraged to help develop social interaction among children. Development areas such as fine motor and gross motor skills are also enhanced by daily participation in music, art, stories, dramatic play, blocks, and group projects.
Reading aloud and singing everyday enhances the toddler's language. The teachers promote self-help skills by modeling appropriate behavior.
Pre-School Programs
The Pre-School Programs are for 3 and 4 year old children. We have a Transitional Preschool classroom for young 3’s, and a classroom for both 3 and 4 year olds.
Our Transitional Kindergarten Program for children turning 5, emphasizes kindergarten readiness. The children learn math, science, language, and writing through play and projects.

Art, music, dramatic play, blocks, stories, and many group projects are part of all of our programs.
The daily routine consists of alternating periods of individual, small, and large group activities, structured and non-structured time, indoor and outdoor play. All are important to the child’s total development.
Our Gym
Our large motor space is great for those cold and rainy days. The children build body awarenesss, strength and coordination through running, jumping and climbing. We have recently added a new addition to our play space - Imagination Playground Blocks. We are excited to be one of the first childcare centers in the New England area to be using this cutting edge products. The children have lots of fun using these big blue pieces!
t
We also work on building awareness of directionality and postion in space. For example - go up the steps, around the block, down the slide and go inside the tube.
We also work on hand-eye coordination by throw and catch games. We also have a balance beam which strengths the child's sense of balance.
Goals for MCC
We feel it is important to remind parents why we do what we do at the Marblehead Children's Center.
We believe that children learn through play. The curriculum and environment are set up to encourage learning through play. We believe social development is as important as cognitive development. For detailed information and to see the full goals you can click on over to the Curriculum Page.
